Psalm 91:14-16
When darkness and wickedness begin to peak, it seems there is no escape. I have recently heard Christians talk about moving to another part of the country to escape the lawlessness we see today in our country and around the world. What’s the old saying? You can run but you can’t hide.
What’s the answer? To arm yourself and stand your ground? To run? These are worldly perspectives that come from fear and are alien to this Psalm. These final verses in Psalm 91 are God’s first person promises to YOU. But they are contingent. Do you know the Name of Yeshuah? It means salvation. The LORD my salvation. Yeshuah – otherwise know by us as Jesus.
Do you love Him? Jesus says this is the greatest commandment of God: “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” (Mat 22:37). You have to know Him and love Him with all that you are. Who is your god? Who is your goddess? They can’t help you. They are false, powerless. Their images carved in stone have to be nailed in place so that when the Lord Almighty shakes the earth they don’t fall down and shatter. They do not speak, they cannot hear. They cannot heal or deliver. They only Imprison you. No “god” or “goddess” can stand against Him. Therefore turn to Him and love Him alone, for He alone is the Most High, the Almighty, the God of Israel known as Hashem – the Name that is above every other name.
The original language translated “love” in verse 14 means “attached to”. This whole Psalm is about closeness to the Lord and the advantages of that closeness. Are you “attached” to Him? Do you know the name of Jesus?
Don’t acknowledge other gods or spiritual entities. They are false and only want to draw you out from the protection of the Most High. Don’t even mention the name of another god or spiritual entity. Don’t call on them at all. They can’t help you. Don’t trust in your angel cards or your witchcraft. Don’t trust in any divination. None of these things are trustworthy. They are darkness and only draw you away from your only shelter who is the Lord.
Don’t trust in your favorite politician. They are only humans. Don’t get caught up in the group-think hive of the internet and social media. Its distracting you from the Lord. Don’t run. Don’t arm yourself. Don’t barricade yourself behind your flimsy fortifications. Don’t trust in yourself.
Instead, attach yourself to the Most High, the Almighty – your fortress, shield, buckler. He is your fortress.
He will deliver you. He will set you on high. Eph 2:6 says for those who believe, the Lord “hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus”. You will call upon Him and He will answer you. Don’t think God answers your prayer? Get attached to God. He will be with you in distress. See all the distress in our country? Its building.
Attach yourself to the Most High. He will deliver you and honour you – give you long life. Attach yourself to Him alone. He will show you His salvation – His only begotten son seated at His right hand and who is Himself the fullness of deity. God from God, Light from Light.
All that other stuff you think will help? It won’t. Give it up. Our politicians? Really? They are all corrupt and make things worse. In fact, the whole political-socio-economic system is completely corrupt and godless. Don’t trust them.
Attach yourself to Jehova Yeshuah. I hope you will place your complete trust in the LORD, my salvation. Your salvation too.
