“Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him [securely] on high, because he has known My name.

Psalm 91:14

My wife and I do everything together, particularly in the current environment where we spend much more time together because of a “pestilence” that is worldwide. The great blessing in this is spending time with her.

When we go out to get supplies, we almost always go together. When we walk into a store, she places her arm in mine and that’s how we walk. Attached together.

This is a picture of what Psalm 91 means. The Hebrew word in verse 14 translated “loved” means “attached to”. I wanted this to be the closing devotion on this Psalm because it really is what the Psalm conveys to us – to be so close to the Lord, that we are “attached to” Him. This is critical in the life of a true follower of Christ. Honestly, its the very point of all of scripture – everything revealed to us by God through the Apostles and the Prophets comes home to this very point: that we would be attached to God. We would love the Lord our God with everything that we are. That is where all of history started with the creation of mankind in the image and likeness of God – that we would be with Him walking in the garden in the cool of the day, innocent of evil, free access to the tree of life. That’s why we were created – to be close to our Creator. Attached to Him.

All of history, from Genesis 3 to Revelation 21-22 is the road back to that place of being in the direct presence of God and of the Savior. Its been a very difficult road filled with darkness and evil because of the sinfulness and brokenness of mankind and the opposition from great forces of darkness in the spiritual realm.

The darkest part of the journey remains for mankind. It is at this time more than perhaps any other time that those who are inclined to call on the Name would do so and quickly. Those who have attached themselves to God through repentance and faith, will walk through the valley of the shadow of death, but the path of the journey is the brightly lit path of righteousness led by Messiah.

As times grow darker and the evil rhetoric turns into evil action, press in close to the Lord. In His shadow, in the fortress, behind the shield with the surrounding defensive bulwark, under His wings…attached to Him. Do not fear for He will deliver you and set you on high where darkness will not reach you. From the protection that comes from being this close to God, you will only look upon with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked.

Time to come in.
