“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” Matthew 5:9

Peace. We all need some peace in our lives. How do you find it in a world always at war or under the threat of war. Its like we all can hear the drumbeat of war – the gathering clouds of conflict. Taiwan, China, Russia, Israel, Gaza, Iran, Syria, Ukraine, and many more places around the world. Threats. A new arms race in nuclear warheads and unstoppable hypersonic weapons. Wars and rumors of war.

Look at our inner cities in America – war zones where evil forces burn, kill, assault and destroy under the banner of justice. There is no peace without peacemakers. The conflict we see in the world today is energized by forces of evil that make war. They have no interest in peace. Where are the peacemakers? Where are the sons of God in a world that has rejected God?

What does the bible say about peace? How do we find it?

  • Psalm 29:11 – The Lord will give strength to His people; The Lord will bless His people with peace.
    • You have to be one of the Lord’s people. He is the source of peace.
  • Psalm 34:14 – Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it.
    • Stop doing wrong, learn to do right – repent
    • The path of peace is the path of righteousness.

If there is to be peace upon the earth there must first be peace with the God of the Bible – the only God there is. It is the Prince of Peace who uttered the words of this beatitude. He is the way to peace with God.

Romans 5:1 – Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

How do we find peace with God? Through Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace. Therefore, peace with God points right back to the gospel of the Kingdom otherwise known as the Gospel of peace (Eph 6:15). So then who are the real peacemakers? The Secretary of State? Godless. The heads of state? Godless. Their results speak volumes about their true desire for peace. Their methods and unspoken goals take peace from the earth. The drumbeat of war is perhaps really the hoofbeats of the approaching red horse (Rev 6:4). The horsemen of Revelation 6 are riding. They are coming and they are not bringing peace. The result of a godless earth will be war, pestilence, famine, death. Peace will not be found through the evil of godless men driven by spiritual forces of darkness.

The peacemakers are those who bring the gospel. It is the gospel of peace which is the key to peace with God. Make peace with God today. Call upon the Name of the Lord – the Prince of Peace who is the only one capable of bringing true peace to the earth. His Kingdom will be one of everlasting peace, righteousness, truth, light. You want peace? Then find a peacemaker – one who can share the gospel of peace given by the Prince of Peace. Once you find peace with God yourself, then you too can be a true peacemaker – a son or daughter of the living God.
